North Africa |
|
North Africa and the Mediterranean is a 264-page hardback book containing revised and updated briefings for the major Axis and Allied forces that battled for dominance across North Africa and Italy.
North Africa and the Mediterranean provides Flames Of War players the forces needed to recreate the battles between the Allied and Axis forces across North Africa, through Tunisia, and onto Sicily and the Italian mainland.
Start with the British Eighth Army against Rommel and the Afrikakorps. Fight the battles of Gazala and Bir Hacheim. Continue on to the borders of Egypt and then fight once more across the northern shores of Africa. Fall back and defend Tunisia then counterattack and blacken the ground at Kasserine. Introduce the Tiger tank to the Allies and give the upstart Americans and veteran Tommies a taste of the German big cats and what awaits them in Europe.

Mid-war Monsters: Experimental Vehicles 1942-1943 |
Flames Of War allows you to take on the role of a field commander manoeuvring your troops across the battlefields of World War II, bringing this classic period of warfare to life in your own games room. With Mid-war Monsters you can test out the experimental super tanks of 1942 and 1943 to see how they would have performed if they had made it into production.
Massive 100-ton super tanks, nearly impenetrable light tanks, incredibly powerful tank-hunters, heavy armoured cars, and vastly-improved medium tanks.
These are some of the projects that the scientists and engineers of Great Britain, The United States, Germany, Italy, and the Soviet Union laboured towards in 1942 and 1943. Some designs were combat tested, while others never got past the prototype stage, but what if they had seen widespread service? How good would they have been?

PaK40 auf RSO Platoon |
In August of 1943, the Waffenamt (Armaments Office) was approached by Steyr Werke with a proposal to mount the powerful 7.5cm PaK40 on the RSO tractor. The Waffenamt was favourably impressed with the idea and ordered the conversion of 50 vehicles.
The running gear of the RSO remained unchanged in the new vehicle. The driver's compartment is replaced with a low, lightly armoured superstructure. The weapon was mounted to the frame underneath the normal RSO bed. Army Group South received several of these vehicles for troop testing in early 1944.
A PaK40 auf RSO can be field in a Veteran Tank-hunter Platoon from Hammer and Sickle.

8.8cm PaK43 Gun |
The PaK 43 (Panzerabwehrkanone 43) was a German 8.8cm anti-tank gun developed in competition to the Rheinmetall Flak 41 8.8cm anti-aircraft gun. Krupp’s Gerät 42 (designed as a replacement for the 8.8cm FlaK36) was developed into a dedicated anti-tank gun in 1943.
These powerful guns were just not dulled out willy-nilly to any old anti-tank units, but were kept with army level detachments to support other units where they were most needed.
They can support German companies with access to the Divisional Support Anti-tank Gun Platoon from Fortress Europe. They can also be found supporting German companies in Cobra, and Monty’s Meatgrinder.

FlaK Nests |
In a particularly ingenious idea to quickly protect their anti-aircraft assets while still providing direct support for their infantry, the Germans would place 2cm quad anti-aircraft guns on the roofs, attics, or the top floors of buildings.
This tactic allowed the guns to fire at Soviet aircraft as well as providing direct firepower against assaulting infantry.
You can either model your Flak Nest on the ground or on a single story building. In both cases it has a base size equal to an Artillery base. If it is destroyed it becomes a destroyed bunker and is Impassable terrain.

| Flames of War - Open Fire! |
With a thunderous crash another shell smashes into the wall above you, showering your trench with rubble. Looking around, your entire position resembles a cauldron of fire -every roof ablaze, black smoke billowing into the night sky. As the echo of the blast dies away the crack of rifle fire breaks out, and an ominous clanking and rumbling.
Suddenly, out of the flames roars a Tiger tank!
Leaping from your trench you run forwards. Bazooka! Bazooka, now! Even as the din swallows your shouting, you see a trooper leveling his rocket launcher at the great beast's tracks. It may not be enough. You are in command. Take control. What are your orders?
Open Fire! has been carefully designed for someone who has never heard of Flames Of War before, or has seen the 256 page rulebook and not known where to start. Open Fire is not a simplified set of the Flames Of War rules, but rather a complete introductory box for a new player!

| Hammer and Sickle |
Hammer and Sickle follows Stalin’s Onslaught and focuses on the Soviet units carrying out the second phase of Operation Bagration, the exploitation of the Shock Armies’ breakthrough of the German defences.
These highly mobile corps launched through gaps created in the Germans lines and immediately rushed deep into German held territory heading directly for Minsk and its lines of supply.
Highlighting the northern and southern spearheads (the Hammer and Sickle) and their associated corps brings some interesting tank and equipment options.
