The newest installment in the beloved Crew series, The Crew Journey to the Ends of the Earth by Kosmos, has just arrived in store. This game invites players to embark on an exciting cooperative adventure that pushes the boundaries of exploration and teamwork. Whether you are a longtime fan or new to the series, this release offers fresh challenges and captivating gameplay that will keep you engaged for hours.

So what exactly is The Crew?
The original The Crew released in 2019 and was called The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine, a space adventure where you play as astronauts exploring the outer solar system over a series of co-operative missions. It uses classic trick-taking mechanics which basically just means you're trying to play the highest or best card of the same suit. If you've ever played classic card games like hearts, bridge or euchre, this would seem familiar. The thing about The Crew though is you're working co-operatively to complete different missions, so you may not necessarily be trying to win the trick and instead playing worse cards to allow another player to win to complete the mission. You also have limited communication in the game, meaning you can't just tell the other players what cards you have, but you can hint at it using tokens to suggest your best card.
The series was followed up in 2021 with The Crew: Mission Deep Sea which built on the originals gameplay by introducing a more dynamic mission system with variable difficulty levels, a fresh deck of task cards, and improved scalability for different player counts. This one, as the name suggests, plunged players into a deep-sea expedition, where your crew is on quest to locate the lost continent of Mu.
And now, building yet again on the gameplay, comes The Crew: Journey to the Ends of the Earth. The game now includes more than one hundred different tasks with varying difficulty levels and the whole crew is aiming to complete one shared task instead of individual ones. When a task is completed, you move forward based on the task's difficulty, harder tasks will move you further, which is advantageous as you have to outrun time, literally a meeple that you have to beat, which is also moving along the scoring track. Your crew have to reach the end first to win the stage. This does mean that you can fail at some tasks, unlike the previous games in the series, however you do still need to win enough to beat the opponent.
The Crew Journey to the Ends of the Earth offers a compelling mix of teamwork, strategy, and exploration. It invites players to step into a world where every decision counts. This game is a strong addition to the Crew series and a must-have for anyone who enjoys cooperative board games with depth and excitement. The included 25 missions will give you a campaign you'll be excited to play and get your crew together for another round.
