"The regular Coffee Rush is such a great game with adorable 3D pieces and fast paced, puzzle-like gameplay. The Grab & Go version is even quicker, it's definitely not going to replace the original for me as it plays very different but it's for sure going to get a lot of use. It's a much smaller box which is perfect to throw in my bag and it'll play in under fifteen minutes. The main difference from the original is that this version is a real time card game, you basically dump all the ingredient cards on the table - they still have the same cute art - and you all play at the same time.
Each player starts with two order cards, and then using one hand only, you pick up the ingredients one at a time while looking for what you need to complete your orders, whether that's coffee and milk or tea leaves, water and ice. As soon as you complete an order, yell it out - like 'ICED CHOCOLATE LATTE'- and grab another order card. The game ends when one player finishes five orders and then you tally up your points or 'revenue' which is just the dollar amount on the orders you made. It does get harder with takeout cards which have to be completed facedown and you can't look at the ingredients you add to it once you put it down, so it makes the game mix real time speedy play and a little bit of memory which is a fun twist on the originals more plan ahead and puzzle-like mechanics." - Jake, over-caffeinated board gamer.
