This week, I picked two titles that have been buzzing in the community: Magical Athlete and Hot Streak. Both games offer fast-paced action and unique gameplay that kept me hooked from start to finish. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you’re about to discover why they deserve a spot on your radar.

What makes Magical Athlete stand out

Magical Athlete is at it's core, a simple roll the dice and move your character kind of game, the kind of classic game style like ludo or monopoly. The thing that makes this game so much fun and chaotic is that before starting, players will draft the four racers they will have in the game and choose before each race which to use. All the racers have wacky, game-breaking abilities. So while you're just rolling the dice and seeing how far you move, your racers ability will trigger, this could push you further to the lead, move other racers back, warp you to another space, trip another racer up and so many more!

Races alternate between the "mild" side of the board and the "wild" side of the board. A race ends once two racers have crossed the finish line - with, generally, only these two players receiving points. Race four times, then whoever has the most points wins!

You will laugh so much and be cheering your racer on as you watch your opponents racers get pushed back, or scream as you see your racer trip for the third time this game! This wacky game is so simple yet so much fun and perfect for your next game night.

The thrill of Hot Streak

Hot Streak lives up to its name by delivering fast, intense gameplay. Another game of wacky characters racing, except this time you'll be betting on these sprinting mascots. This game is for hard luck gamblers who love to bet on and scream at the racers.

At the start of the game, set up the racing deck with one card for each mascot and a number of random cards based on the player count. Reveal these cards to all players, after which players draft betting tickets from those on display. As bets naturally go, you can either play it safe or be risky, hoping to get more money and not lose more in the process.

After betting, each player chooses one of the cards in their hand to secretly add to the racing deck. Shuffle the deck, burn three cards, then start flipping. The cards will move the mascots along the track. How will they move? Who knows? They may run a normal race ... they may swerve into the wrong lane and knock over another mascot ... or they may just turn around, run backwards and get disqualified.

Keep the cards going until all the mascots have taken their place on the podium ... and just hope any you bet on get up top. This is yet another wacky and fast paced game but with a gambling spin. Let's hope your bets work out (not like mine) and you win at the races at your next game night!
