Deep Regrets Is the Horror Fishing Game You Didnt Know You Feared
Some games ask you to build an empire. Deep Regrets asks you to go fishing, stare into the sea, and decide how much terror you can afford to keep.
For our Spooky Game Knight spotlight, this strange and stunning horror fishing game is a perfect Halloween pick. It starts with a simple question: what did you pull from the water? Then it gets much worse.

The hook is risk, reward, and bad choices
Each turn begins with bespoke tackle dice. They set your strength for the round, then you choose whether to push further out to sea or return to port.
At port, you can sell fish, buy provisions, and recover energy. At sea, you study shadowy shoals across three depths and decide what looks catchable. Bigger risks can mean better rewards, but reveal and catch abilities can twist the round fast.
As you uncover stranger creatures, you collect Regrets cards. They raise your madness, but they can also make weirder fish worth more. That tension is deliciously nasty. The more you gain, the more you may lose, because the player with the highest value of Regrets must discard their most valuable mounted fish at the end.
It looks gorgeous in the worst way
The art, hand-inked by Judson Cowan and coloured in Procreate, gives the game its creeping personality. Every fish, item, and character feels like it belongs in a sailor’s nightmare.
There is also a solo and co-op mode where you play as an ichthyologist cataloguing every fish in the sea across a campaign of games.
For Halloween, Deep Regrets is a brilliant choice: strategic, unsettling, and full of awful little decisions you will absolutely make again.
